What is the ESF Actions Implementation Authority

The ESF Actions Implementation Authority is supervised by the General Secretary for the Management of European Funds of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. It was established in May 2001, at the same time as the launch of the Community Support Framework (CSF 2000-2006). Its main goal is the implementation of the European Social Fund’s (ESF) interventions, which are aimed at developing human resources. These interventions are actualised through two operational programs, “Employment and Vocational training” and “Information Society”.

Throughout the third programming period (2000 - 2006) the ESF Actions Implementation Authority performed its actions as a final beneficiary. During the current programming period (2007 - 2013) the ESF Actions Implementation Authority continues the project of implementing the EFS interventions within the framework of the National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRF).

New interventions are described and specified by the operational programme, “Human Resources Development”. They are focused on further development of human resources through the continuous improvement of knowledge and skills, enhanced by the lifelong learning of employees, which is a critical factor of a knowledge based-economy.
