In order to disseminate information on funding opportunities under cohesion policy programmes for the period 2007 - 2013, the Regulation (EC) 1828/2006 (in Articles 2-10), identifies information and communication measures to inform the actors concerned and the citizens of the EU with the aim of highlighting the role of the Community and ensuring that assistance from the Funds is transparent. These programmes are intended to increase competitiveness, create jobs and strengthen economic and social cohesion within the Community.
